The article explores the themes of participation, community empowerment and local development in the theoretical and research framework provided by pedagogy of community. The perspective that forms the backdrop of the article is part of a theoretical framework that puts in value contributions from hermeneutics, socio-constructivism, and pragmatic approach. The article begins by considering the challenges of the contemporary age respect on the crisis of the traditional models of design-evaluation of services and interventions in communities. Starting from the spraying and the instability of social relations brought of modernity, pedagogy of community considers relevant the instances of participation and new forms of citizenship. Focusing on shared memory and the stories of the community the paper is centred on theoretical and methodological aspects of the participation useful to promote community. Respect on formative design and evaluation, these empowerment community processes can activate endogenous and sustainable local development’ initiatives and actions.
