COMPUTER ASSISTED INTERPRETER TRAINING (CAIT) FOR LEGAL INTERPRETERS AND TRANSLATORS (LITS)

This paper provides a brief overview of Computer Assisted Interpreter Training (CAIT) and suggests ways of applying it to the training of legal interpreters and translators (LITs), in order to enhance classroom-based training and to support students in their self-study activities. This is the final book produced at the end of the Building Mutual Trust project (funded by the European Commission), which aimed to encourage common standards of competence for legal interpreters and translators (LITs) in the judicial systems of the European Union member states by providing models for LIT training programmes, procedures and materials.

Il contributo fornisce una breve panoramica del Computer Assisted Interpreter Training (CAIT) e suggerisce possibili applicazioni alla formazione dei traduttori e interpreti in ambito giuridico e giudiziario (legal interpreters and translators - LIT), per arricchire la formazione tradizionale in classe e per offriere un sostegno agli studenti nelle attività di studio autonome. Il volume è il prodotto finale del progetto Building Mutual Trust (finanziato dalla Commissione Europea) che ha avuto l'obiettivo di promuovere degli standard comuni di competenze per i LIT nei sistemi giudiziari degli stati membri della UE, fornendo dei modelli di corso, metodologie e materiali per la formazione dei LIT.
